About

Dom Cavicchia is a Manhattan, Kansas family law attorney at Addair Law who helps clients navigate divorce, custody, child support, protection orders, and other family law matters with compassion, clarity, and steady advocacy.

Originally from suburban St. Louis, Missouri, Dom earned his Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from Truman State University. After graduation, he watched many of his peers encounter legal problems involving debt collection, leases, family matters, taxes, and other issues that felt overwhelming and difficult to understand. Seeing capable, hardworking people struggle with legal language, red tape, and fine print inspired Dom to pursue a legal career focused on helping people make sense of complicated systems.

Dom attended Washburn University School of Law with generous scholarship support and earned his Juris Doctor with Dean's Honors in 2019. He also earned certificates with distinction in Estate Planning and Tax Law, and received CALI Excellence for the Future Awards in Civil Procedure I (Spring 2017) and Taxation of Individual Income (Fall 2017), recognizing the top academic performance in each course. He began his legal career in estate planning, elder law, and Medicaid planning before moving into civil litigation and family law advocacy.

As a staff attorney for Kansas Legal Services, Dom gained years of courtroom and client advocacy experience representing survivors of domestic abuse in matters involving protection orders, child support, custody, and divorce. That work shaped his approach to family law: listening carefully, explaining the process clearly, and standing beside clients during deeply personal and stressful legal matters.

Dom's background in estate planning, elder law, and Medicaid planning also gives him particular strength in gray divorce cases — divorces later in life, where clients often need to think carefully about retirement assets, real estate, health care planning, beneficiary designations, adult children, and long-term financial stability. He currently serves as President of the Kansas Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) and presented "Estate Planning Essentials: A Matter of Life and Death" through K-State Research and Extension's Living Well Wednesday webinar series in January 2023. While Dom's practice at Addair Law is focused on family law, that background helps him identify issues early and guide clients through decisions that may affect the next chapter of their lives.

Now with more than seven years of legal experience, Dom is committed to helping clients protect their families, their safety, and their future. He understands that family law often involves the intersection of private family concerns and the legal system, and he works to help clients move through that process with confidence and dignity.

Outside of work, Dom volunteered with the Manhattan Arts Center from 2021 to 2024, contributing to past productions in sound design, sound board operation, set design, stage management, and even performing on stage. He and his wife are grateful to call "The Little Apple" home and are delighted to be raising their children in the Flint Hills.
